Berlin Biennale Excursion with An Paenhuysen

SUNDAY JULY 24
14:00 – 17:00

The 2016 Berlin Bienniale is titled ‘The Present in Drag’ and curated by DIS – a New York-based collective comprising Lauren Boyle, Solomon Chase, Marco Roso and David Toro. DIS are not so much curators but creative producers who initiated their digital publication in 2010. Their Berlin Bienniale then also focuses especially on post-internet art, presenting a rather slick and cold reality, with art resembling a stock image. It has been criticized in The Guardian as a “LOL Biennial.”  Exploring the Biennial’s different venues in the city (an art academy, management school, Kunsthalle, private collection, and a tourist boat), we will discuss its curatorial strategies, its aims and its outcome.
